“In a world that often vilifies trans and non-binary people, POW’s inclusivity is empowering. It’s healing. It gives you confidence to be seen.”

Our Mission
To promote equality and diversity through the arts by creating paid work, advancing education, raising awareness and increasing access to creative opportunites.
Since March 2015, Power of Women Thanet (POW) stood as a beacon of artistic expression and a loud voice for gender equality. Navigating through Thanet (and the arts’) many gender gaps, filling them with diverse perspectives and experiences that are heard, understood and celebrated.
10 years ago we started of as a grass roots Festival, a tribute to International Women’s Day, and each year since then we have celebrated gender equality with art, music, dance, poetry, laughter, rest, and making.
5 years ago we started the Young Producers Programme, working with Young People from Broadstairs College.
3 years ago POW in the Park began, a family friendly festival celebrating local artisans, entertainers, and the community at large.

the future of feminism
Every year, from September through to March, the POW Team was joined by a trio of talented Young People from EKC Broadstairs. We worked with them to encourage and develop their creative skills, widened their network and paid them to work with us to create their own event and podcast as part of Annual International Women’s Day Festival.
“POW helped me by giving me goals and direction, because I’ve got into uni… which I’m so excited about.”
