Welcome to the 2024/25 Young Producers programme 🥳

This mentee programme is close to our hearts here at POW, because being able to nurture the next generation of creative talent is central to what we do. From September through to March, the Young Producers join us as part of the POW team, as they plan, develop and create their own podcast & listening party as part of our 10th International Women’s Day Festival 💃🎉

Meet, Abi, Lia and Ryo

Abi

“ I've always used art as a way to express myself, as I struggle to do so in other ways. It's how I communicate with, and perceive, the world. I aim to connect with people through art, and help others connect with each other, and find their voices, so that we can all have a better tomorrow. It's the humans duty to create in this world, as the future is in our expression, so express as much, and unapologetically, as you can! ”

LIA

“ Hi, I’m Lia, and I am working with POW this year as part of their mentee program. I am currently studying Art & Design LVL 3 year 2, with the intention to go to uni to study Fashion Atelier and Tailoring. I love photography because I get to show people how I see things. I also really love to read and enjoy reading when it is rainy outside. Outside of my creative interests I play rugby and workout as way to relax. ”

RYO

“ To me, gender equality is about creating an inclusive environment where people of all identities have the same rights, chances, and access to resources. It means getting rid of discrimination and unfair treatment based on gender, making sure everyone is treated fairly in all aspects of life like education, work, health care etc. I also feel it highlights the value of different experiences / viewpoints and involves breaking down unfair systems and questioning cultural norms that keep gender gaps alive. ”

ABOUT THE YOUNG PRODUCERS.

Pioneered by POW Thanet, the Young Producers program is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing Thanet's high youth unemployment rate of 9.4%. Designed to nurture the creative talents of Thanet's youth, this program serves as a launchpad for careers in the arts, music, media, and drama sectors. By offering hands-on experience and mentorship, we're changing lives and reshaping futures.

“This program has opened doors I never knew existed. It’s more than an opportunity; it’s a life-changer.”
