7 NOV — 12 JAN | POW x Manspace
For the next in our series of POW exhibitions at Albion House, we are focusing on men, their mental health and their critical role in building a more gender-equal world.
As a gender-equality charity, we understand the importance of working together to fight for a better, equal world, and we can’t just sit back and ignore the effects the patriarchy has on men's mental health. In a patriarchal system, we are all held back, regardless of our gender identity; therefore, we must work together to undo these structures and build a better system.
It is also men’s responsibility to do their part for gender equality and work on addressing misogyny and violence against women and girls.
We have partnered with Manspace, a local, informal group set up to help the men in our area who are facing mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. Offering an alternative to widespread, societal norms that encourage men to be tough and put on a brave face, Manspace encourages their members to build positive masculine bonds and experience vulnerability of all kinds.
Each artist has carefully selected or created a bespoke piece of work made with this topic in mind.
Exhibiting Artists:
Bruno Grad
Charlie Evaristo-Boyce
Hayden Kays
Jason Evans
Jordan Gray
Julian Smith
Nick Morley
Tazelaar Stevenson
We are grateful to be surrounded by feminist men and non-binary people that have the same mission of gender equality at the core of their work.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the exhibition opening at Albion House on Thursday 7th November from 6-9pm. You can learn more about the work POW & Manspace are doing, enjoy drinks, canapes and tunes from a local DJ.
